Known issues

  • Only the lower 64k of Flash are available for use on the F5529 LaunchPad

    Description:
The mspgcc version included in this release does not include 20-bit addresses support. As a result, only 64k of address space (FLASH) is available for use. Sketches larger than 64k will fail to compile.
    Work around:
There is currently no work-around. Energia will include the Red Hat MSP430 GCC compiler once it is ready for prime time.

  •  MspFlash library not compatible with F5529 LaunchPadDescription:
The MspFlash library uses registers that are not available in the F5529.
    Workaround:
There is no workaround at this time. The library will need to be adapted to support the F5529 Flash registers.

    • Tiva / Stellaris: Sketches or libraries that use the SPI library fail to compile

      Description:
As a side effect of fixing a line numbering issue, the insertion point of Energia.h was moved beyond SPI.h, SPI.h is not able to find certain typdefs defined in Energia.h.
      Work around:
Include #include <Energia.h> as the first line of the Sketch.

    • Anaren Air BoosterPack Library does not compile for F5529 @ 25MHz

      Description:
The Anaren AIR BoosterPack library includes it’s own SPI driver that initializes the SPI based on the SYSTEM clock. A system clock of 25MHz was not taken into account and compilation fails.
      Work around:
To use the Anaren Boosterpack Library with the F5529 LaunchPad select the “LaunchPad w/ msp430f5529 (16MHz)” board from the Tools->Board menu.

      Description:
The MspFlash library uses registers that are not available in the F5529.

  • Upload to Stellaris/Tiva LaunchPad fails on Mac OS X 10.7.x

    Description:
An outdated version of lm4flash, the utility that uploads code to Stellaris/Tiva LaunchPad, was included in the release. This version has compatibility issues with Mac OS X 10.7.x and possibly earlier versions. There are no know issues with 10.8.x and later.
    Work around:
Replace lm4flash with an updated version following this procedure:

    1. Download the replacement lm4flash utility from here.
    2. Unzip lm4flash.zip.
    3. Control click Energia.app and select “Show Package Content” from the popup menu.
    4. Navigate to Content/Resources/Java/hardware/tools/lm4f/bin.
    5. Drag lm4flash from the zip file into the bin folder and select “Replace” when asked to replace the existing one.
    6. Close the finder window.
