Description

The String reserve() function allows you to allocate a buffer in memory for manipulating Strings.

Syntax

string.reserve(size)

Parameters

size: unsigned int declaring the number of bytes in memory to save for String manipulation

Returns

None

Example Code

String myString;

void setup() {
  // initialize serial and wait for port to open:
  Serial.begin(9600);
  while (!Serial) {
    ; // wait for serial port to connect. Needed for native USB
  }

  myString.reserve(26);
  myString = "i=";
  myString += "1234";
  myString += ", is that ok?";

  // print the String:
  Serial.println(myString);
}
