Guide to the MSP430FR5969 LaunchPad (MSP-EXP430FR5969)

Supported in Energia version 13+

Important Note about the MSP-EXP430FR5969 LaunchPad
If your board says “eZ-FET Rev 1.2 with Energy Trace” then this board is currently not support by Energia. The board version is most likely 2.0 and above. The reason for not supporting this board yet is that the driver used by the programmer does not yet support all operating systems. As soon as this driver becomes available for all operating systems an Energia update will be made available. This also means that as soon as we do update the driver, all MSP-EXP430FR5969 without Energy trace will no longer be supported. Texas Instruments should have replaced your board with the new Energy Trace board if you purchases an early version of the MSP-EXP430FR5969 LaunchPad without Energy Trace.

The MSP-EXP430FR5969 LaunchPad shines as an ultra low power platform for projects. The board has 64kB of FRAM memory which enables extremely low power consumption, non-volatility, and fast write cycles.

Drivers may or may not be required in order to start using this LaunchPad. Download and open Energia on your system. Connect your LaunchPad to your computer over USB. Select MSP430fr5969 under Tools > Board, and select the correct serial port under Tools > Serial Port. If you don’t see a selectable serial port, you likely have a driver issue.

Installing the drivers

If you have not already done so, follow the instructions for your operating system to install the drivers here:
